Welcome! I am off to Ireland, my first time out of the country and it’s for 19 weeks D:. I’m excited to have my domain -> rileyedens.com and be able to share with you all. I plan to update this with my goings and adventures (hopefully I have some).
Journey to Dublin
Home to Lubbock
My journey to Dublin started at home. Caden was off to Austin as an alternate at UIL Congress State, so Mom, Journey, and I woke up at 5 am headed to the airport. We decided to stop in Littlefield for a Shea-D’s burrito that ended up staining my shirt and pants with green chili juices *sigh*.
On the bright side, the sunrise was beautiful, despite Journey and Mom saying they’ve seen better. Sorry, we don’t all have goats to feed before sunlight. We ruminated about the beautiful West Texas sunrises with the impossibly flat horizon and a view of the sky that takes up 80% of your vision. The clouds were a deep mauve with a red glow underneath and a dark orange sky. The perfect sight for my last morning in Texas for quite a while.

We then stopped at a Love’s in Lubbock where I attempted (not very well) to clean myself up, and I got three Texas souvenirs- a cowboy boot keychain, a small snow globe containing a longhorn, and a small armadillo plushie- for my soon-to-be three apartment-mates. I hope they like them!
Then it was off to the airport where we exchanged goodbyes and my mom asked me to call her more than when I’m in Austin, ok fine.

Houston to Newark
After a quick nap I was in Houston. I was met with a dusty sky and 60 degree weather. I bought myself a 20% neck pillow and was off to board my flight to Newark.
We boarded and I started a movie, Past Lives. They gave out those complimentary headphones, just like Uncle Brandon said they would! There was an issue with the main cabin door, so I was able to get 30 minutes into my movie before the plane made any movement.

I eventually finished the movie (very good!) and there was still 80 minutes left in the trip. So, I resolved myself to sleep a little. I quickly found out why the neck pillow was discounted, or alternatively, I don’t know how to use one.
I was woken up to the sight of golden light in the airplane. The sun was setting over New Jersey, a nice way to be greeted.

Newark
Now I’m in Newark. When I first found my gate they were boarding to London. I saw a great deal of Amish people, young and old. Turns out New Your has a substantial Amish population, which makes sense due to their closeness to Pennsylvania.
I then got my self some mediocre dinner at Little Purse Dumpling.

My flight is delayed now, for who knows why, but I’m waiting and writing. Someone is playing the piano and it has a nice ambience.
Hope you enjoyed, and next time I post I’ll be in Dublin!
